I'm the assistant offensive line coach of the Bemidji State Beaver football team, Northern Minnesota where we have been the conference runners up for the past three years in a row. I'm also a part time motivational speaker, but an Amway sales representative.

Remember, it's not a pyramid, it's a road to wealth. All right, I know a little bit about the speaking business. Being a motivational speaker, I don't mean to brag but my fees have been in the mid to high three figure range for a number of years now. Do the math man. I'm so busy I'm busier than a three legged wallpaper hanger at a Shriners convention. I couldn't book another Rotary luncheon if I wanted to. So I know the business and today I got some notes here to help us find out what's going to be happening next. It's called the DNA Killer keynote.

So heads up, heads out of your shorts, look forward. DNA, that's an acronym often confused with analogy or synonym. Keynote. DNA stands for desperately needs attention, not the speech, the speaker. Now today we've got five hall of Fame speakers. They're going to demonstrate some elements that we're talking about today. Got some good elements and there's no setup. There's no here's what I'm doing why or here's something I did one time and this all.

We're going to drop right in to their speech. Boom. They're going to do six minutes or as close as they can to that number. Demonstrated an element. That's what we're going to be doing. So. Oh, and then after that coach Lori Guest is going to come out and break it down of what we just saw. Going to take about a minute.

Admit what we just saw and why. Ah, we have a question from the audience. Yes. Yeah, I was just thinking about this. There's actually 118 elements on the modern periodic table, but what do you think the essential elements are for? A killer keynote just came to me. Great question, caught me by surprise on that one. Science. Been on the Ellen Show 27 times. Appreciate that question. Now for the rookies out there, that's called an audience setup. It's not an element, it's just cool. There's 107 elements to every keynote speech. That's great. Today we're going to Focus on five.

The five big ones. Just like the Ten Commandments, only it's five. It's not really commandments, just strong suggestions. Let's break it down. Number one, strong open. You gotta grab em. You gotta grab em right off the bat. You can't be so damn predictable.

Pardon my language. You can't just come out there and hey, how are you? Or by a show of hands, how many have ever filled in the blank? You can't be predictable. Gotta have something going. As famous Minnesota legend musician Bob Dylan said, sometimes it's better to be different than good. And as master speaker CPAE hall of Famer Patricia Fripp has said so. Well, she's the best. Those 10 magic words, if it is to be, you have to be me. Number two, tell stories.

If you want to engage young and old, really bring them in, reel them in big time. You got to use those four magic words. Pull my finger. Okay, those are three words, but it kills every time. The four words are once upon a time. It takes your audience down that yellow brick road and they go with you and follow you. Reminds me of my favorite motivational film, Jaws. So this big old white shark, there's this young gal, she's swimming around in that big old lashing.
