The PE Geek #1 000-episode-118.mp3
Jarrod Robinson 00:00:29 - 00:01:58
Hey everyone and welcome to another episode of the Peer Geek podcast and as always, it's a pleasure to have you here. Now, as I scan through the list of episodes, it's been quite a while since I felt compelled to sit down and record and I think that's like a couple of years, maybe three years. And that's not because I don't care about the topic or the content of Phys ed and whatever. In fact, it couldn't be more opposite than that. We have so many things that we are working on in the PE space in education, in web three and all of them have a very common theme and that is education. It's that I just have been so deep in the thick of building what I believe to be how and the direction in which education will be shaped and the way that it will be sort of presented. And as I've sort of started to see the fruits of those things coming to bear, it's got me motivated again to start talking about these things. Now, if you're new here, over the years I have used this podcast to talk about the different things that you could do with technology in Physet.

And if I go right back to the very first episodes and even the first content that was produced in the site, I had a very futuristic outlook on tech. And that's always been the way that I look at technology. I look at the certain opportunities that are present at a given time. And I like to extrapolate on where I think that's headed. And in the very early days when we're talking about web two tools, it was like the idea that you can easily create a blog or you can easily download an app and have these tool sets at your disposal. Really made it clear to me that the opportunities in the classroom would change and things that we had always done would not necessarily need to be done in that way. And it was years and years of work producing content. You can look through our site here at Connected P and in all the different places that we publish content and have not stopped publishing content and you'll see that that message of delivering education in a way that's innovative has kind of been the undertone that has been part of everything that we do.
Jarrod Robinson 00:03:29 - 00:05:00
And I guess that's really what I've been doing in the last couple of years. It's thinking and pivoting not necessarily changing course in the whole landscape of education, but looking at how everything that we might have spoken about over the last hundred plus episodes in many cases came to be. And the big catalyst for a lot of that was COVID. As we did training and teacher training during that time, it became really apparent to me that many of the the different things that we had advocated for and spoken about and helped teachers around and supported over many, many years were actually coming to pass. And it kind of dawned on me that we had played a role in shaping the conversation around education and PE at that time. And it left me with the realization that the topic and the content and the different bits and pieces that we do needs to also reflect that. And it kind of was a disruptive moment. I needed to then start to think about what is the next frontier.
Jarrod Robinson 00:05:01 - 00:06:58
I don't for 1 second think that all of the stuff that we had spoken about for the last hundred plus episodes has come to bear because it certainly hasn't and our face to face training and online training still is about upskilling people there. But the skill set between when we first started talking about technology and how teachers can deploy it in their classes and the skill set of people at this point in time when sort of COVID wrapped up is so far apart. So far apart that the obvious scenario for me is to start to skate to where I think the puck is going next. And over the next series of episodes I'm going to dive into those particular topics and give you some insights into some of those things. How we're building tools to support teachers in that particular space and some of the opportunities, some of the threats that I believe are looming in that particular situation. And I don't mean physic the threats that are in education with the dawn of array of new tools that are incredibly exciting but also present opportunities for radical disruption unlike anything that we've kind of seen. So this is just a quick chance to jump on and share what's been going on with me in terms of the peak site and as we spin up some more content specific to that particular tech and PE angle, you'll be the beneficiary of that. So if you are joining us for the first time, I look forward to having you on future episodes.

If you've been here before and you've listened to other episodes. Thank you. I appreciate you spending time with us and it would be interesting actually to go back and scan through our episode list and see some of the stuff in there that's changed that's obviously not relevant or something that I wouldn't talk about necessarily now. And the one thing that's going to continue as we go ahead is that you it changes are constant, it always has been but the rate of that change is about to become exponential. And yeah, I think that is in many ways the reason why I feel it's super important to get on and start to talk about some of those things and share some insights into the different things we're building and why and give teachers every chance of being able to being able to leverage them for the better. So thank you and I look forward to diving into it all on our next Episode.
