Appreciate it, Phil. Thanks for having me on.
Speaker B 00:02:01 - 00:02:09
I'm glad to get into this. So, Jake, with the first question, why? Why did you become an entrepreneur? What made you drive you into this world?
Jacob Clopton 00:02:11 - 00:02:49
Well, you know, I I just I never wanted to work for somebody else. You know? I think that was, you know, the major driver. And and, you know, like, corporate kinda culture and and that whole thing just just didn't really fit with my personality. You know? I was kinda had a drive to wanna create something for myself, and, you know, that was what I kind of viewed as my own success. You know, being able to create something and operate my own thing and, you know, go from there. So it I really think that was, my main driver. Also, I didn't wanna wear a tie.
Speaker B 00:02:50 - 00:02:52
I feel you there. I feel you there.
Jacob Clopton 00:02:52 - 00:02:58
Always, Jesuit high school, and we had to wear ties the whole time. And I was like, never again.
Speaker B 00:02:59 - 00:03:10
You poisoned you against the tie, and it it is restrictive. In your life, did you have people who are entrepreneurs that you could look up to, or were you, like, one of the first in kinda the family?
Jacob Clopton 00:03:11 - 00:03:38
No. You know, I was in my immediate family, I was definitely the, you know, the first person and still the only person that kinda went off on their own. I you know, everybody else almost everybody else in my family is in medicine. My dad is a doctor. My stepdad is a doctor. My mother is a nurse. I have, you know, in laws that are, from my other siblings that are doctors. And Indore and everybody else is kind of like a professor in a university, type of setting.
Jacob Clopton 00:03:38 - 00:04:07
So very much so, went a different way with that one. My my father retired as you know, after a while, and he was really working for himself, and he was trading stocks on his own. He never really created, you know, a company or an organization. It it was more but but he was very much so independent. You know? So I think that that definitely had, you know, some influence on me. But, no, not really anybody in my immediate family.
Speaker B 00:04:07 - 00:04:25
So being that you were the black sheep, if you will, of your family, and deciding to go against the grain of medicine, a very noble profession. But who did you look up to in that regard? Were there any, like, far off mentors or were you just like, I wanna try this on my own?
