Speaker B
00:02:07 - 00:02:20
Alright. So, You so like I said in your bio, you came to the UK at 13. I'm getting out of focus. Where where where did you immigrate from? So where was home before the UK?
Muheez Owosho
00:02:21 - 00:02:32
So I was born in Nigeria, actually. So I lived there. I did travel around when I was, like, 1, 2 years old, but I lived there for, like, 13 years of my life. And, yeah, I was just in Nigeria.
Speaker B
00:02:33 - 00:02:51
So you came from Nigeria, then your parents immigrated to the UK. You went through that huge culture shock of living in the UK, and coming from Nigeria to UK because I'm pretty sure it was a huge shock. When you got out of school, what made you decide to go into freelancing?
Muheez Owosho
00:02:53 - 00:03:35
So at the time we came over, we didn't really have too much money. And it was a thought where I was like, every single day, I would hear the word, have to make money. We have to make money from our parents, and I'm like, you know what? Let me just see what is out there. And I went down this rabbit hole of, you know, doing surveys, affiliate marketing until I realized that I actually need to be providing value because I was too focused on, like, the monetary gain. And I was like, I need to actually help people to in order to get something back, and that's when I went through the route of, like, you know, freelance web development because I was really good with computers at the time because that's what we were learning in college. And I was I thought I could actually make a lot of money from it, so I was researching it. And I was like, oh, wow. You can actually make quite a lot of money from freelancers.
Muheez Owosho
00:03:35 - 00:04:05
So About all the courses, I learned it with, you know, the little money I had from, like, surveys. It was, like, those $12 Udemy courses and stuff. And I just I spent all this time learning, researching. Like, that course literally probably changed my life. And, yes, since then, I was just, you know, making quite a lot of decent money from freelancing at, like, 15, 16, and it was pretty good at the time. So, you know, 16 year old making, like, $200, $200 per website. That's like That's, like, 30 k a month to a 16 year old. So it was like
Speaker B
00:04:06 - 00:04:32
it was crazy. Yeah. So then you you started doing this. You started freelancing, in getting that dollar dollar bills, and I'm guessing you started looking as you took that course, you realized that you had to start investing in yourself and, like, Up your skills and that. And one of the books you talk, you you suggested was Atomic Habits. Now when did you start reading that? Was that back when you were, like, 13 to 15, or is it something that you read recently?
