I'm gonna jump straight into the the first question like always. What made you decide to be an entrepreneur? What made you throw off the shackles to try and do it yourself and be a boss?
Matt Buchalski
00:02:17 - 00:03:53
It's a great question. And I think I got to a point in, in my career where having a job and having a role within a company was just no longer enough for me. Right? I, I believe I'm attracted to and gravitate towards opportunities that are a build of some sort. Right? I've done, as you mentioned, kind of a number of cold start sales organizations hiring number one and number two, all the way up to however many sales folks. And and when I realized that that's what my passion was or is, right, which was probably 02/2005, '2 thousand '8, somewhere in that neighborhood, it really clicked that although I was working for a company, I was looking for entrepreneurial latitude to go build a business or business within a business. And so I've intentionally sought out those types of opportunities in my career. Give me a a sketch on a whiteboard or a a strategic plan on a cocktail napkin with the right visionary founder or visionary CEO and who's gonna support me and and mentor me and guide me, and and those are the opportunities I have intentionally sought out in my career. Right? So that's one kind of answer to your question.
Matt Buchalski
00:03:53 - 00:04:55
The other answer, though, is, you know, I was working for a big tech company at at, right in, you know, the mid twenty tens. And this company was doing, like, $25,000,000,000 a year in revenue, something ridiculous. Right? And my team, I was very, very proud of what we did and what we accomplished together. You know, we're doing somewhere between $60.70, 80,000,000 a year in sales. And I said to myself, I've loved building this, but, honestly, we're like we're like a rounding error. Right? This company is still gonna do fantastic, and my team put up a goose egg, which has never happened. Right? I was like, how do I take that level of significance that I wanna have, that that that contribution that I wanted to make, and really magnify it. And then I had a conversation with myself, like, Matt, you've done an amazing job in your career taking opportunities to build companies.
