I should have asked how to pronounce the name of the business before we came on stage. I apologize for that.

Everybody gets it wrong. It's okay.
Phil Better
00:02:50 - 00:03:04
Glad to hear that. But now that we got this funnel shunt started, I would love to know what made you decide to venture off the regular nine to five path and join us here in the entrepreneurial world?
Rebecca Bonnington
00:03:04 - 00:03:24
It was an accident, and I was working in the corporate world. I was 27. I'd done really well. I'd I was in recruitment, so I was working for a big global recruitment company. This is a long time ago, Phil. This is back in 1997. It was a while ago. No.
Rebecca Bonnington
00:03:24 - 00:03:48
Ninety eight. I know. And they, I'd hit this huge target. I'd smashed it out the park, and they gave me a really rubbish pay rise. I mean, it was insulting. I was really angry. To put it into perspective, I'd earned them a thousand pounds a day for a year, and they gave me a thousand pounds increase. I was not a happy bunny.
Rebecca Bonnington
00:03:51 - 00:04:29
And and I just thought, really? Do I really want to work for people who don't value what I do? And I spoke to a friend of mine, a recruited accountant who was a partner in an accountancy firm, and he said, why don't you set up your own business? And I said, I can't do that. I was married. I had a two year old child. I was the main wage earner. I had a mortgage. The job gave me a company car, share options, pension. I was earning really good money at a very young age, and I slept on it. And I thought, you know what? Why the heck not? Why can't I do it? And I went, right.
Rebecca Bonnington
00:04:29 - 00:04:32
I'm gonna start my own business. And did it.
Phil Better
00:04:34 - 00:04:54
How terrified were you going from pretty much relative security with the company. You know, you you knew how to do the job. You you knew you're guaranteed at least a thousand dollar increase, which is insulting if you're bringing in a thousand dollars a day. Yeah. How terrified were you?
