Hello, and thank you for listening to. I'm speaking with Elizabeth West. I am your host, and I am going to be. I'm kind of talking about a couple of things, but I am going to be adding an intro and an outro row and some other things to the podcast this year, 2024, when I'm recording this. So stay tuned for that. I'm also going to be adding on that newsletter that I had spoke about last year. I was going to add that in, and then life got in the way. Things happened, and I did not do that.

And I was focusing on the podcast series, which, yeah, again, so I'm in a season of life right now where there are some things kind of going on. I kind of spoke a little bit about it in some past podcast episodes, but I will be revealing more information in the episodes to come, probably from here on out for the next few episodes on and off. I will be talking more about it right now. I'm kind of in the middle of it, but I am making sure that I am getting my rest. I'm making sure that I'm recharging. I'm making sure that I am taking self care and most of all, self love, right? So that is very important. Got to do the oxygen, the old oxygen mask, saying, you can't do anything unless you put it on yourself first, right. And then you can then have the energy and the overflow, the cup overflow, so to speak, to help others.
Otherwise, it's just, no, you're not your best and you can't help others. And it's a lose lose, right? So it'll be a win win when you recharge and when you take self care and take self love. Okay. So with that said, those are things that are going to be coming down the pike. I am excited about for, I'm speaking the podcast. I'm speaking Dot, dot, dot with Elizabeth west, this podcast. So I'm excited about that. And yeah, it will be pretty snazzy, the upcoming episodes, which is something else.
And I'm going to be going off a little bit on a tangent because my podcast, the way that I am, is that I'm a quick start. I think that's in the. Is that the Colby or the disc? I forget which test it is, but I'm a quick start. So if I don't do things in that way, I don't necessarily go in order as far as linear, linearly, if that's a word. I've never done things linear in a linear fashion, but I get things done this is just the way that I am. And I'm pretty sure network now doing more self discovery that I did late last year in 2023, realizing that I do, in fact, have ADHD. So I'm realizing, okay, that is why I've always been. And I'm a manifesting generator.
So that's another thing. I'm a manifesting generator. And we march to the beat of our own drums. We are leaders. Manifesting generators are leaders. We are supposed to do things and we do things differently. Like, we do things. We march to the beat of our own drum.
We're not like, actually in a podcast episode, michelle Rohr, who is also a manifesting generator, speaks about it so well in that episode, which was my last interviewed episode, last episode was winter Solstice. Happy Winter Solstice. And the episode before that was an interview with Michelle Rohr, the wonderful Michelle Rohr. And number 81, I'm looking up the number 81, which was titled why leaders don't need followers in business and why shiny object isn't a bad thing with Michelle Rohr. That's the title of that episode. She was a part of my podcast series work how you are. And yeah, she's also a manifesting generator. And she spoke about it on that podcast episode, episode 81, why leaders don't need followers in business and why shiny object isn't a bad thing with Michelle Rohr.
She speaks a lot about really. It's really true. And it's not trying to sound cocky. It's not trying to sound like we know everything, but we are being. This is the way that we were born. So I have to thinking out loud, I have to remember, I have to remind myself that that is who I am. That is how I was born. And I've never done things in a linear fashion, but that's what my blueprint is.
That's what my blueprint is. And I have episodes about human design also. And if you want to know more about that, I do have past episodes about human design as well, which is basically a blueprint based on when you were born to the minute and where you were born when and where you were born to the minute. So where the sun and the stars were when you were born. So kind of like astrology on steroids, somebody said once, but it's basically a blueprint. You have your own blueprint for when and where you were born to the minute, right? So, yeah, episode 57, I looked it up. Episode 57 is titled what the f is Human Design question mark. And then episode 58 is titled a better description for human Design.
What is your human design type? So there are five types. So I did go off on a tangent. I'm going to reel it back in, and this episode is going to be titled Happy World Introvert Day. Happy World Introvert Day. And I'm going to have in the show notes all of my episodes that had to do with my love letters, if you will. The way I talk about, I have a lot of love letters that I give to introverts and hsps and empaths and now neurodivergence. Now that I'm finding out that, I think I always had an idea for like the last over a decade, I had an idea that I had. I used to say, I have undiagnosed add.
I was saying that for the longest, and now I know that. Okay, now it's ADHD. Now I know that. So, anywho, there are a lot of episodes that I have that are love letters to introverts. And I'm going to name the episode numbers. And I know this is audio, so I'm going to have it in the show notes so you can click on it and listen to them. If you had not listened to them, or if you would like to get a refresher on them again, they're my love letters to introverts. What do you call it in celebration of World Introvert Day, of Happy World Introvert Day.
World Introvert Day, which is January 2 every year. It's January 2. And I was reading a little bit about it just to kind of get a refresher. And it's because the day after all of the festivities of the new year, right. Everybody's kind of calming down, and it's like, okay, the year is actually starting. So things are kind of calm the day after. Right, the new year, New Year's Eve, it's like everybody's out. Everybody's doing very extroverted things.
And then January 2, they named it world introvert Day for that reason, because people are kind of calming down, kind of getting back to the real world, real life. And there isn't another holiday in the US anyway, which I'm in the US. There's not going to be another major holiday until, I mean, there's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. But that is not celebrated in every. Not all, I should say. How do I say this? Not all companies observe it. That's the best.
Yeah, company. Not all companies observe it, but the government observes it. The government observed holidays. So libraries, schools, banks. I believe banks are closed. I got to double check. But a lot of companies do not close on that day. So as far as a major holiday, it's not going to be for a while in the US, I think it's not until.
Because Easter is usually on a Sunday, so that's not on a weekday. So it's not until, I believe it's not until, let me see, Memorial Day. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I know it's a while that we get in the US, we get a major holiday. So where everything is, like, basically shut. Most things are closed, or 90% of things are closed. Anywho, so happy World introvert Day, and I am very happy to have a podcast on this day. It's a bonus episode to have a podcast on this day. And then we will get back to the quote unquote regular scheduled programming, which will be for my podcast series.
It will be my interview with Poonam Saxena. And it's really great because she talks about self care and support systems in life, why they're so important in life and in business. And that's my interview with Poonam Sexenna. So I figured that was perfect for the new year, having that interview in the new year to kind of like. Yeah. Just to kind of shed a light on why it's so important to have self care as well as support systems in life and in business. We need them for both. For everything, right? All of the above.
So again, happy world introvert day. And I am happy that I'm an introvert. I mean, we're all a little bit of both. We're all extroverts and introverts, or introverts and extroverts. Just depends for me personally, and taking the Myers Briggs, which I will put in the show notes as well. For those of you that are interested in learning how are you an introvert, or are you an extrovert? Or how much of each are you? Right, so there's that saying of omnivert, and there's a saying of being an ambivert, which are basically both. You're a little bit of both. Well, we're all a little bit of both.
So everybody's a little bit of both. No one is 100% one or the other. So I'll repeat that. No one is 100% one or the other. It's on a spectrum. So we are all a little bit of both. Personally, when I took the Myers Briggs test, which is the 16 personalities test, is the test that I'm speaking of, because it's actually mirroring the Myers Briggs test those sixteenpersonalities.com number sixteenpersonalities.com. And I can put that in the show notes.
And when I took that test, it shows me as around 40% extroverted, 60% introverted. So I am more introverted. So I'm an introvert. I consider myself an introvert because I'm more introverted. And so, yeah, I mean, I didn't know until very much later in life. Only a couple of years ago did I know. And during the pandemic is when I found out. And I think a lot of folks, a lot of people were doing self discovery, not just me.
I think because of this situation, the sign of the times we were all in lockdown. And anywho, I just was being hard on myself like I normally was my whole life. Come to find out that that's the absolute worst thing I could do to myself, being an introvert and finding out that I'm also a highly sensitive person, which is the worst thing we can do, is be hard on ourselves. Anywho, I'm not going to go off on a tangent on being a highly sensitive person, but a lot of introverts are also highly sensitive people. HsP for short. And I can put that website as well in the show notes. I'm going to write that down right now as well. Dr.
Elaine Aaron coined the term highly sensitive person, HSP. She coined that term in the 90s, so not that long ago. And she is also a highly sensitive person in HSP. And she coined the term, she was doing research on it and realized that there are some people that have. Their nervous system is a little bit more. I don't know. I don't want to say revved up, but it's just we have more. We're deep, deep feelers.
We're deep feelers. So we have a lot of people very empathetic, we are sensitive to. And everyone's different. Again, it's on the spectrum. Everyone's different. It could be sensitive to touch. I had a friend of mine that found out she was a highly sensitive person when she was little. Her mom, she was in a ballet recital and she couldn't wear the dress because it was too itchy.
And all the other little girls didn't have a problem, but she did. And she just kept on. She was telling her mom, I can't wear this. It's too itchy for me. I think she ended up wearing it anyway because she was really little. She ended up going through with it, but she realized that, oh, now she found out later in life, that, okay, she realized that she was an introvert, and she was a highly sensitive person in addition to being an introvert. And that is why she was so sensitive to touch. Sometimes it can be loud noises.
We're sensitive to loud noises. It could be sensitive to any of the senses. It's just basically our nervous systems really get affected by it more than somebody that's not a highly sensitive person. Right. Anywho, and I have episodes that talk about that as well, and podcast episodes that talk about that as well. Anywho, I'm just glad to know that having this self awareness, this self discovery and self awareness that I had a couple of years back, not that long ago, most of my life, I swore I was an extrovert because I had always been, quote unquote, the leader, so to speak, like always the common thread in communicating with people, collaborating, getting people to come out and do things. Let's go check out this new restaurant. Let's go check out this new.
Let's go to this event. Let's go to that event. I'm always the one that's, like, getting people to do things like that. And so I thought I was an extrovert for the longest, and everybody else did, too. But one thing I realized when I discovered that I am an introvert a couple of years ago is that when I was connecting the dots, which I have a podcast episode, episode number two, connecting the dots, and I put this in the show notes. I put all of these episodes in the show notes. That is when that's kind of connecting the dots on like, oh, I am an introvert because I would need to recharge. I would need to recharge.
So if I were to go to certain events, let's just say, like, I went to an event or two during the week, you might not see me for, like, a couple of weeks after that, I would be recharging. I would be in my little and a lot of years in my life, I was a caretaker for 14 years, and I have a podcast episode about that as well. I was a caretaker titled I was a caretaker for 14 years. And let's see what number that was. Let's see. But that was an episode I did not too long ago, and I really didn't have a chance to recharge because I was a caretaker and someone was always around me. So I had bouts with, my mental health was poor, and I had bouts with depression because I did not know that I was an introvert with that knowledge that I needed to recharge alone. Right.
We have to have time to recharge. That's a part of our self care and eventually self love, right? Yeah. So I wasn't able to recharge for. It's episode 76. I just looked it up. Episode 76. I was a caretaker for 14 years, and I talk more about that, and I could never recharge in 14 years. I didn't even know I was an introvert.
Any of these characteristics, I didn't know. So I always stress self awareness because what you don't know, you don't know what you don't know. And then one of my favorite quotes from Maya Angelou, Dr. Maya Angelou. When you know better, you do better. So I just will keep repeating it till forever. When you know better, you do better. And now that I know better, I have been doing so much better.
I have not had bouts with depression. My mental health has not been poor, which it was before when I never recharged. Didn't even know I needed to recharge. So I never recharged. I was a caretaker, and I needed to recharge the most, and I recharged the least. Right. So anyhow, again, happy world introvert day. I love you all.
And just cheers to self awareness and cheers to self love and self care. And I'm just going to name a couple of episodes real quick. Oh, some of my resources, I'm going to name them and then I'm also going to put them in the show notes. Some of my resources for finding out about as far as being an introvert, being introverted or being an introvert. One of mine was Introvert Deer, the podcast. Introvert. Dear the podcast, Jen Granneman, she founded it, and they also have a newsletter. That's amazing.
I suggest signing up for it. Signing up. So it's called Introvert Deer is a podcast. Now, the podcast is no longer on the air, but I relisten to their episodes all the time because I always get new nuggets of information every single time and again. Introvert deer. At the podcast, they also have a website with the same title, Introvert Deer. And I suggest signing up for their newsletter. It's amazing.
And another resource for introverts, Quiet Rebels podcast. The Quiet Rebels podcast that is with and by May K Sang. Again, quiet Rebels podcast by May K sang. Wonderful podcast. May K Sang is amazing and she has a lot of great resources. Her newsletter is amazing as well. It's one of those newsletters that you're going to want to get and open up. It's really good.
So quiet Rebels podcast by May K. Sang. I'll put these all in the show notes. Hers is amazing, too, and all of her resources in her I'm thinking of another word her make saying she has a lot of great resources is the only word I can think of right now. But she has a lot of great tools that she helps. Introvert and highly sensitive that she has on her podcast. Her podcast interviews, of course. And then she also has her website.
And then I believe it's maykaysang.com is her website. But I will have this in the show notes. So quiet Rebels podcast by May K. Sang. That's another second resource. A third resource is called the Ambitious Introvert podcast by Emma Louise Parks. Let me make sure the Ambitious introvert podcast, Wonderful podcast by Emma Louise. By Emma Louise.
Yeah, I believe it's Emma Louise Parks. I'll correct it. I will correct it if it's wrong, but I'll have that also in the show notes. A wonderful podcast. Her podcast is amazing. Again, a lot of great resources that she has made for introverts as well. And her newsletter is really good, too. Everyone's newsletter is amazing.
So it's like newsletters that you want to open. And another resource is the secret Owl society, which is. I had her interviewed her. That was podcast episode, the last interview. I spoke about her earlier in this podcast episode as well. With Michelle Rohr. Episode 81 with Michelle Rohr. So this is Michelle Rohr's website and newsletter again.
Michelle Rohr is another one of those newsletters that she's also an introvert. And her newsletter is one that you want to open. It's like, it just makes you smile every time you open it. Every time I open it, I'm always like, happy to open it. Excited to open it. Excited to read are my. Those are my five. Let's see.
Introvert, dear Quiet Rebels podcast, the Ambitious introvert podcast, the Secret Owl society with Michelle Rohr, who I also had an interview with on episode 81, why leaders don't need followers in business and why shiny object isn't a bad thing with Michelle Rohr. That's the title of her episode. And there's also the book quiet by Susan Kane. Thank goodness for that. Susan Kane and the book quiet. Huge. I found out about. I was connecting a dot about being an introvert as well due to her book.
And yeah, I talk about that on episode two and on episode 13. And so those are some of my resources. There's so many. Yeah. I don't want to do. Yeah. So I will leave it there for now. And some of my podcast episodes.
I have to list my own podcast because I do a lot of podcast episodes on introversion as far as being an introvert and tips and all of my tips and resources and just my love letters to introverts. Episode two is called connecting the dots throughout my life on being an introvert and an HSP. Episode 13 is called how did I get here? My self awareness on being an introvert and an HSP. I have episode 26, my interview with Jessica Butts. She breaks down my Myers Briggs letters, which are in FP, and I talk more about that on that podcast episode. Infp. Yeah, she breaks it down. So she's a Myers Briggs expert, and I want to have her on again because she is so informative with all of her information.
And I'll have her website as well in the show notes. That was episode 26, I interviewed Jessica Butts, Myers Briggs expert, in episode 30, interview my interview with Billy Gardner on being an introvert in life and in business. And Billy Gardner has. She has her own as far as introverted vas, introverted virtual assistants. So she helps introverted virtual assistants to get gigs. And she has her own club as well. And it's amazing. So Billy Gardner, that was episode 30.
Episode 36 is titled coping during the holidays as an introvert. Episode 44 is titled it's an interview with Julie Greenham. And it's titled creating Boundaries as an introvert and an empath. Episode 44 episode 63, extrovert versus introvert. Did you know that there's only one difference. That was another episode that I did recently. Episode 75 surviving during the holidays as an introvert 2023 surviving during the holidays as an introvert 2023 episode 75 episode 77 creating boundaries and structure as an introvert in episode 78, my ongoing self discovery journey. Oh.
Episode 77 was an interview with Rachel Lee, and she talks about. It's titled creating Boundaries and structure as an introvert. And then, yeah, episode 78, my ongoing self discovery journey. And this time, Rachel Lee interviews me. So thank you very much for listening. I appreciate y'all. If you wouldn't mind, if this episode was of value to you, if any of my episodes, if you've enjoyed them, if they are of value to you, if you learned something, a tidbit, a nugget, anything, if you would please be so kind and share it with a friend. It really helps for the algorithm, I guess.
I want to say, I guess, but it does help the algorithm. So people will know about the podcast and more people will listen to the podcast and the word will get out. So it's a win win in that more people can get the information. I podcast for the love of helping others and sharing information with others. So it helps me to help more people. It helps me to share information with more people. And what better is it than a referral word of mouth from a friend that's sending you a podcast? I know that I definitely listen to some to the podcast episodes that my friends have sent me directly via text or Instagram or whatever way they send it to me. Email, any way that they send it to me.
If they tell me that listen to this, chances are I'm going to listen to it. So I'd appreciate it if you'd be so kind as to sharing this podcast. Asked with a friend if it was of value to you, if you enjoyed it. Thank you very much for listening. I appreciate you. I appreciate y'all again. Happy World Introvert Day. Cheers to speaking up and for making your voice heard.
